Main purpose: To be responsible for the effective handling contract management, corporate legal matters and labour law issues on behalf of the SIU.

Minimum qualification and experience: B. Proc or LLB or equivalent (NQF 7/8). Admission either as an Attorney or Advocate. Five years experience after admission as an advocate or attorney, within a Corporate Legal environment, of which two years is at a management/supervisory level.

Key performance areas (Include but not limited to): Participate in the strategic planning of the Corporate Legal Section of the SIU: Provide input and implement strategy for the Corporate Legal Section. Oversee contract management on behalf of the SIU: Provide service I relation to the drafting, negotiation and amendment of contracts, agreements, and SLAs. Consulting Services: Provide high level advise to the Head of the Unit, EXCO and senior management when required. Facilitate and deal with Labour Law matters, including CCMA and Labour Court matters, on behalf of the SIU. Stakeholder Management: Engage in stakeholder consultations to understand their issues and share challenges.

Technical skills: Strong business acumen. Computer literacy in MS Office packages, with high level Excel skills. Presentation skills. Report writing skills.

Required knowledge and Behavioural (include but not limited to): Sound knowledge of all corporate and other law related legislation and regulations. Understand the public sector. Sound knowledge of stakeholder management strategies. Strategic decision making. Attention to detail. Information monitoring. Leadership capability. Planning and organising. Risk taking.
